Welcome to UCB in the United Kingdom

Disease Areas

Whether in neurology, immunology, rare diseases, or the emerging field of gene therapies, UCB works in close collaboration with patients and key stakeholders to understand the true unmet needs for people living with a wide range of conditions, to be able to leverage new technologies and pioneer innovative solutions. Scientists at UCB collaborate with a diverse range of leading researchers from academia, medical charities and industry to advance science and provide the solutions patients need.

Our work spans across a variety of conditions in immunology, neurology, and rare diseases. The UK strategic R&D site focuses on a wide range of immunology therapies – a total of four new drugs have been discovered to date in the UK alone, while a further six antibodies that were created here went on to be developed by our colleagues around the world.

We are committed partnering with the NHS and we recognise the importance of collaboration to ensure we can deliver the innovative solutions created here for patients living here.

Rare Disease

We’re committed to improving outcomes for rare disease patients by driving a transition from symptom management with our current portfolio, to disease modification with our emerging therapies, to potential cures as we expand into gene therapies.

We remain committed to building strong partnerships with the rare conditions’ community, including with patient organisations.

Neurology

UCB is a leader in the field of neurology, and we develop medicines that will help elevate the lives of people living with severe neurological disorders.

We have an increasing focus on creating new solutions that address unmet needs of people living with severe or rare forms of epilepsy, where few options exist. It is our hope that we can develop solutions that could impact the underlying causes of certain epilepsies and potentially lead to a cure.

We are also exploring and building our capabilities in gene therapy, with a view to bringing this exciting and promising new therapeutic approach to patients living with neurological conditions that are genetic in origin, including certain epilepsies and Parkinson’s disease.

Immunology, Bone & Joint Health

Understanding how the immune system and bone health interact is helping to unlock new possibilities for people living with chronic inflammatory diseases and osteoporosis.

By harnessing evidence-based science, we aim to deliver innovative treatments and personalised solutions that address persistent unmet needs and improve outcomes across immunology, bone and joint health.

We continue to work closely with healthcare professionals, researchers and patient organisations to help drive meaningful progress for the communities we serve.
